I-95 North Viaduct, Providence

  • Providence: I-95 North motorists are using a new traffic pattern after the Downtown exit and near Providence Place Mall with a newly relocated Exit 38, about one mile south of its former location. RIDOT has posted numerous signs to guide motorists to their destinations.
  • Providence: I-95 North at Exit 37 B/C/D interchange, various exit ramp closures as needed for paving, steel placement & bridge demolition, Sun. – Thurs. nights, 11 p.m. – 6 a.m. Follow signed detour.

Washington Bridge, East Providence/Providence

  • New Traffic Pattern: Bypass lanes for I-195 West traffic from East Providence to Providence are open. This temporary traffic pattern allows three lanes of travel eastbound and three lanes of travel westbound – all operating on the eastbound Washington Bridge. Expect delays.

Weekday

  • Warwick/West Warwick: I-295, at the Providence St. bridge, alternating lane closures for bridge work, Mon. – Fri., 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Other Limited Access Highway Restrictions

Reconstruction of Route 146 (Lincoln/North Smithfield)

  • North Smithfield: Rte. 146 NB through traffic will be directed over the new portion of the Sayles Hill Rd. Flyover in the left lane. Sayles Hill Rd. traffic, local turns, and wide loads will be directed to the right Lane. Both lanes continue north through Rte. 146.

Route 37 Improvements (Cranston/Warwick)

  • Cranston: I-295 North, from Exit 3B to Exit 6, left lane closed for bridge construction, Mon. – Fri., 6 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Cranston: Pontiac Ave., from the Rte. 37 West ramps to the Rte. 37 East ramps, alternating lane closures for bridge construction & drainage work, Mon. – Fri., 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

6/10 Interchange Project (Providence)

  • Providence: Rte. 10, from Union Ave. to Tobey St., alternating lane closures for striping, Mon. – Fri., 6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Providence: Rte. 10 South, from 6/10 split to Union Ave., alternating lane closures for guardrail and attenuator installations, Mon. – Fri., 6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Providence: Off-alignment paving on the future Westminster St. on-and-off ramps to Rte. 10 will be taking place, Mon. – Fri., 6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Metropolitan Providence

Henderson Bridge (East Providence, Providence)

  • East Providence: The Henderson Expressway from North Broadway to the roundabout is now open to traffic.
  • East Providence: East River St./River Dr., from Waterman St. to Angell St., road closed for bridge demolition, Mon. – Fri., 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Follow signed detour.

Temporary Bridge Closure

  • Providence: RIDOT plans to close the West River St. bridge to vehicular traffic for approximately four months, beginning on or about Friday, June 28. Prior to its full closure, RIDOT will temporarily close the bridge during evening and overnight hours, Sun. – Thurs. nights from 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. for approximately ten days beginning on Sun. night, June 9.

East Bay Bike Path Bridges

  • Barrington/Warren:Rte. 114, at the Barrington and Warren Bridges, the northbound boardwalks will remain open during demolition and construction of the bike path bridges, providing a continuous off-road path around the construction area.

  • Tiverton: Rte. 77 (Main Road), at # 3848, alternating one-way traffic for curb & sidewalk work, Mon. – Fri., 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Newport Pell Bridge Approaches - Phase II

  • Newport: Crews are expected to be performing clean-up work sitewide. Electrical crews will be installing fiber optic cables from the Pell Bridge to West Main Rd. – Coddington Hwy. Additionally, crews are expected to be finishing the installation of fiber optic conduit on Coddington Hwy. near the West Main Rd. intersection and finalizing the now dead-end section of Halsey St. Paving the final layer of asphalt on the shared-use path is scheduled and loaming & seeding sitewide will continue.

  • Glocester: Rte. 44 (Putnam Pk.), from Reservoir Rd. to the roundabout, alternating lane closures for paving & striping, Mon. – Fri., 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

South County

  • Charlestown/Westerly: Rte. 1, from Wildflower Rd. in Charlestown to Stenton Ave. in Westerly, left lane closed for median guardrail installation, Mon. – Fri., 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • North Kingstown: Rte. 138, at the ramps from Rte. 1 (Tower Hill Rd.), frequent vehicle access in/out of the work zones for drainage work behind barrier, Mon. – Fri., 6:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • North Kingstown: Tower Hill Rd., from West Allenton Rd. to Hamilton Allenton Rd. alternating one-way traffic for curb & sidewalk, Mon. – Fri., 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Temporary Road Closure

  • West Warwick: Effective Tues., May 28, Rte. 3 (Cowesett Ave.), from Main St. to Coit Ave., road closed for utility work, weekdays, 6 a.m.-5 p.m. through June 21. Local traffic and business access remains, with all others following a signed detour.

Weekday

  • Coventry: Rte. 3, from Reservoir Rd. to Morningside Dr., a lane shift will be in place for soil testing, Wed. – Fri., 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
